Summer break begins this weekend

Tomorrow, May 22, is the final day of the 2019-20 school year! Northwest ISD students will be on spring break until Thursday, Aug. 20. The district currently has no plans to change the 2020-21 academic calendar because of the pandemic, but we will keep families aware of any potential updates.
Graduations being streamed online during May 26 ceremony

While graduates will have two vehicles for themselves and family during Northwest ISD's graduation ceremonies on Tuesday, May 26, anyone unable to attend the ceremonies won't miss out as all four will be streamed live online. Texas Motor Speedway will broadcast the events on YouTube, and Northwest ISD will upload a recording after the event so families can watch later.

Dr. Ryder Warren, superintendent of schools, hosted a Facebook Live video chat yesterday, May 20, with the latest news of the district's facilities closure and answers to top questions. Reminder: Current meal program ends this week
Please remember that the current free breakfast and lunch meal program offered at several campuses will conclude this week in conjunction with the end of the 2019-20 school year. The district's regular summer meal program will start June 1 to June 30, with food offered 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Love and Prairie View elementary schools will serve as host campuses. Expect additional information on the summer meal program soon.
Stacy Miles promoted to principal of Eaton High School

Northwest ISD has promoted Stacy Miles from associate principal to principal of Eaton High School, effective immediately. Mrs. Miles has been with Eaton since the school opened in 2015, and she has educated and led students in Northwest ISD since 2007.
Anthony Fontana named next principal of Chisholm Trail Middle School

At their May 18 school board meeting, Northwest ISD trustees unanimously approved Anthony Fontana as the next principal of Chisholm Trail Middle School, effective after the conclusion of the current school year. Mr. Fontana comes from Lewisville ISD, where he is currently principal at Lewisville High School's Harmon campus for freshmen and sophomores.
High school summer credit recovery, original credit registration now open
Registration for free summer learning opportunities is now available for students who will be in high school during the 2020-21 school year, with both original credit and credit recovery options available. Students in eighth to 11th grade can register online for the self-paced online courses, which will have teachers closely monitoring student progress and assisting as needed. Students are expected to complete online work on a regular basis within the program.

Travel the world virtually this summer with our online summer learning! Our Learning that Takes You Places website offers students the opportunity to virtually explore a variety of cultures and locations around the world by reading, discussing, writing, reflecting and extending their learning. Learning that Takes You Places is designed to cross grade levels and content areas while incorporating aspects of STEM, CTE, athletics and fine arts.
Fine arts students earn $3.1 million in scholarships
Graduating Northwest ISD students in the Class of 2020 have earned more than $3.1 million in fine arts scholarships from universities across the country, and the district recently honored these students remotely for their hard work. Students who received these scholarships will continue performing art at the collegiate level; notably, this includes students from all four district high schools.

Online enrollment for 2020-21 school year ongoing
Enrollment for the 2020-21 school year is now open and ongoing. Families of returning students received emails with links to re-enroll their children for the coming school year. Families of returning students can also log into Home Access Center, select the "Registration" icon, then the "Update Enrollment" tab, and click "Start" to reenroll their children.
