Our newsletters will have a new look next semester

Smartphones and tablets now make up the majority of devices that read our newsletters, and as such, we're changing their design to make them easier to read on these devices.

We will begin transitioning Northwest ISD newsletters to a mobile-friendly design when we return from winter break. So if you see a new layout, it's still us - we're just updating our look a little bit!
Voting for 2019-20 calendar options coming in early January
A stock photo of a calendar

Be on the lookout for an email in early January regarding our 2019-20 calendar. As part of our annual calendar creation process, we will solicit feedback from community members about options. The vote will include at least two options with a start date prior to the TEA's mandated first day of school (the fourth Monday in August), as district trustees will soon vote whether to approve District of Innovation status that could exempt Northwest ISD from that requirement.

Trucks move materials at the U.S. Rotue 287 ramp project

Construction has started along U.S. Route 287 in Fort Worth, a project that will extend the southbound service road and relocate the southbound ramp at Blue Mound Road. The construction will make for a safer exit out of the Eaton High School, Adams Middle School and Schluter Elementary School area. For more information about the project, click here.

Reminder of inclement weather policy

With colder weather now here, please remember that Northwest ISD will always alert you of any potential inclement weather closings. Weather closings will be posted on the district's website and social media accounts as well as direct communication (phone and/or email). News stations usually alert watchers to school closings as well.

For more information about the district's inclement weather communication procedures, click here. Remember: Unless the district announces otherwise, schools operate on their planned schedules.

Northwest ISD schools earn EPA Energy Star certifications for conservation

Nearly all of Northwest ISD's schools have earned the EPA's Energy Star certification for energy conservation, saving taxpayer dollars. Just two schools didn't receive the honor, and that's because they're still in the application process. Read more about the distinction at this link.
Learn about school finance

Did you know that taxpayer funding sent to school districts and recaptured by the state doesn't have to go to other school districts? Taxpayer funds intended for education instead can and are used by the Legislature to fund other areas of the state's budget, too.
