Attendance Matters at Northwood School!
At Northwood School, we believe that regular and on-time attendance is key to student success! To help our students get the most out of their education, we encourage families to keep absences to a minimum and to follow the school’s attendance guidelines.
Excused vs. Unexcused Absences
We understand that sometimes absences are unavoidable. Excused absences include illness, medical appointments, family emergencies, religious holidays, and other special circumstances approved by the principal. If your child needs to be absent, please notify the school before 8:30 AM by phone, email, or Pick Up Patrol. Please specify the reason for the absence.
Unexcused absences, including excessive absences without proper documentation, may lead to truancy concerns. Missing ten half-days or more for unexcused absences per year is considered habitual truancy in New Hampshire.
Family Vacations & Educational Trips
While we encourage vacations to be scheduled during school breaks, we understand that sometimes travel opportunities arise. If you're planning a trip, please notify the principal in writing in advance so teachers can plan to help students stay on track with their learning. School work that is missed while a child is traveling is generally provided upon the child's return to school.
Working Together for Success
Parents and guardians play a vital role in reinforcing good attendance habits. If your child will be absent, please call the school office at (603) 942-5488, email NWSOffice@northwoodschoolnh.org, or use Pick Up Patrol before 8:30 AM. Your support helps ensure a smooth and successful school year for all students!
Thank you for making school attendance a priority. Have a wonderful weekend!
