Beyond the Bell:

Northwood School Clubs!

After-school clubs play an important role in supporting the academic, social, and emotional growth of students here at Northwood School by providing opportunities to explore interests, build confidence, and develop collaboration, problem-solving, and leadership skills in a safe, structured environment. Our current offerings include: Walking Club, Drama, Yearbook, Student Council, Board Games, STEM, Pirate Math, and a Model Railroad Club, giving students a wide range of creative and hands-on learning experiences.

This past fall, the Model Railroad Club was especially meaningful, as it was facilitated by Jacob, an eighth-grade student whose creativity, initiative, and leadership were on full display. The club brought learning to life by blending engineering, mathematics, design, history, and teamwork while empowering students to take ownership of planning, building, and problem-solving. As students collaborated to design layouts, measure and scale structures, troubleshoot systems, and share responsibilities, they developed perseverance, communication skills, and real-world applications of learning in an engaging and highly motivating way.

Participation in after-school clubs helps students build independence, responsibility, and positive peer relationships while fostering a strong sense of belonging and connection to our school community. Congratulations to all of the students involved in our clubs, and kudos to all of the faculty and staff involved in supervising those students!
