Designing Models with Area and Perimeter!
Third grade spent this week finishing up their Area and Perimeter unit in math! Over the past five weeks they’ve been learning how to identify the perimeter and the area of regular and irregular shapes. This week they were put to the test and asked to create their own shapes out of items at their house! Students then described the area and perimeter to their teachers through Google Classroom and email. Take a look at some of their amazing work!
Hayden made this shape with an area of 12 skittles (2X6).
Charlie made this shape out of lucky charms for an area of 12 (3X4).
Emma C. made a 4x3 figure out of jelly beans!
Check out Harrison’s block design!
Kayla created this irregular shape with an area of 12 and a perimeter of 20!
Dominic created this shape.
Norah N’s elastic figure.
Brooklyn used gummy bears to create her shape with an area of 12 and a perimeter of 14. .
