Welcome back!

Dear Families,

We are so excited to welcome students back to school! The year ahead will be a busy one as we return to many traditional routines and experiences while still navigating through pandemic conditions.

For the first time ever, we are starting the year as a NEASC accredited school. This is a great honor for our school and will help to focus our work moving forward. This year, our work to further align with NEASC's Standards of Accreditation will include:

  • The development of a school growth plan
  • Continued work on our curriculum documents to ensure they are current and in a common format across subject areas
  • Assessment and refinement of our practices in supporting students academically and socially in a tiered framework
  • The creation of a "Vision of the Graduate" document that captures the school community's core beliefs, values, and learning expectations

I will share more information with you periodically on these efforts and will seek community input later in the year to help us fully articulate the vision of the graduate.

Thank you for your partnership. We are looking forward to a wonderful school year. Enjoy your long weekend!

Safer at School Screening

Here is some information about a testing program we’ll be offering at school. If you haven't already, please review the information and then complete this survey to indicate your interest in participating.

End 68 Hours of Hunger Program

Northwood School is pleased to offer the End 68 Hours of Hunger program again this year. We have a great group of volunteers that fill backpacks each week for us. The backpacks are packed with food to help fill the gap between lunch on Friday and breakfast on Monday. Further information is available on the national website at http://end68hoursofhunger.org/.

Only school counselors know who is participating in the program. On Fridays, the counselors will put a bag in the participating students' cubbies or lockers, and it will come home with them that day. We then ask that you return the backpack on Monday, so it can be filled again by our volunteers for the next weekend.

If you would like to participate in this program, please email or call your child’s counselor. Any family can participate and it may be for a short term or the whole school year. We hope you will find this program helpful and if you have any questions, please feel free to contact either one of us at any time.

Thank you,

Lynda & Nichole

Mrs. Magnusson’s class went bug hunting today and found 6 monarch caterpillars! We have been learning about the monarch butterfly life cycle this week. The kindergarteners will watch them munch milkweed plants and grow before they go into their chrysalis and transform into butterflies!
