Parent-Teacher Conferences

On Monday, we look forward to welcoming parents and guardians into the school for parent-teacher conferences. Parent-teacher conferences are essential opportunities for parents and educators to connect, collaborate, and support student success. These meetings allow teachers to share valuable insights into a child’s academic progress, social interactions, and behavioral strengths and challenges, providing a fuller picture than report cards alone can offer.

Productive conferences strengthen the partnership between school and home, fostering a team approach to a student’s education. When parents and teachers communicate openly, they can align on goals, strategies, and expectations, helping the child feel supported and understood both in and out of the classroom. Engaging in these conversations also empowers parents, giving them a clearer understanding of how they can assist with learning at home and address any challenges their child may be experiencing.

The National Association of School Psychologists has developed a guide that offers some suggestions for parents on ensuring productive parent conferences which you can find here.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Positive Office Referrals

Northwood School staff members have begun to issue Positive Office Referrals as a way to promote student PRIDE! Each week teachers of all grade levels are encouraged to submit a positive office referral for one or more students who have been observed exemplifying our social values of being respectful, responsible, and safe. Then, those students are called to the main office at the end of the week for a meet and greet with our mascot Pride and are given their certificate. Pride is so excited to have met all of these wonderful students and can't wait to congratulate them for a job well done!  Thank you to Ms. Gilliam and the Leadership Team for developing a way to positively acknowledge students!

Congratulations to the following students who have received positive office referrals in the last two weeks:

Gabe, Joel, Carson, Natalie, Maci, Everly, Destinee, Zoe, Mason, Locan, Max, Teagan, Brayden, and Parker!

News from Kindergarten

Safety month in Kindergarten ended with Mr. Robert teaching us about internet safety. We learned that we should never give anyone we meet online any personal information, and if we are asked we should tell our parents right away. The kindergarteners are now safety experts!
