Brain Awareness Week

March 13th - 19th

The brain is at the center of human experience. Everything - from the way humans form societies, to the way we engage with the world, to our capacity for thinking, feeling, learning, and remembering - it all lives within the billions of neurons and connections in our brains. There is so much that we know about the human brain, and yet there is still far more to explore. As such, this creates potential endless opportunities for the future of the field. At its best, neuroscience will help deliver better health outcomes, improve education, and advance innovation for all of us.

So, what is Brain Awareness Week?

Brain Awareness Week is the global campaign to foster public enthusiasm and support for brain science. Every March, schools and communities provide education and activities that share the wonders of the brain, and the impact brain science has on our everyday lives. Needless to say, spreading the word about the importance of brain science, and the impact on learning, provides a critical role in helping our students lead healthier, more productive lives. Of course, the wonderful aspect of this movement is that one does not need to be a neurobiologist to begin to help one another learn, grow, and remain cognitively healthy. If you are new to some of these concepts, or simply do not remember your high school science classes, check out this article on basic neuroscience and brain health! Have a great weekend!
