Northwood School Olympics

Each year, Northwood School hosts our own version of the Olympics the week before February vacation.  Please see the dress up themes below for February 16 - 20!  Each day that you dress up and participate, you will earn points for your homeroom.  Information for Friday’s colors will be communicated by your child’s homeroom teacher.

Keeping In Touch Is Critical For Success!

Believe it or not, this past Tuesday marked the 100th day of school, a milestone that highlights how much students have learned and grown this year. With the second trimester ending just a week after February break, it is important to remember that it is never too late to communicate with your child’s/children’s teachers.

Effective communication between families or caregivers and their child's teachers is crucial for academic success and overall well-being. Research shows that when parents and educators work together, students demonstrate higher grades, better attendance, and improved social-emotional development. A study by the National Education Association (NEA) highlights that parental engagement can increase student achievement by up to 30%. Regular communication allows caregivers to stay informed about their child's progress, address concerns proactively, and reinforce learning at home, creating a supportive educational environment, as mentioned in this article from the Parents online magazine.

Additionally, studies from the Harvard Family Research Project emphasize that children with actively engaged caregivers exhibit greater confidence, self-regulation, and persistence in learning. Open communication fosters trust between educators and families, leading to more personalized instruction that meets each child's unique needs. Whether through parent-teacher conferences, emails, or digital platforms, maintaining regular dialogue ensures that children receive the guidance and encouragement necessary for long-term academic and social success.  Happy Valentine’s Day and have a great weekend!
