What a Great Way to Wrap Up Mental Health Awareness Month!

The last group of kindergarten students created their positive self-talk flowers and the staff and students completed 72 acts of kindness in the month of May.

If at any time you have questions or concerns regarding your child's mental health, please reach out to me. I am always here to help.

Wildlife Encounters Visits Third Grade

Third grade had an AWESOME time with Wildlife Encounters. They brought in six different animals to teach us about. We loved seeing the animals and having a chance to touch them. We met Elvis the California King Snake, Shadow the Grey Fox, Thorn the Porcupine, and Sid the Cockatoo. Thank you so much to third grader, Grace, for arranging this visit for us! And a huge thank you to Wildlife Encounters for taking the time to come visit our school.

Juneteenth is a holiday celebrating the emancipation of those who had been enslaved in the United States. First celebrated in Galveston, Texas in 1865, it has become a widely observed event which emphasizes education and achievement.

The Northwood School library has created a list of books, for all reading levels, that celebrate emancipation and recognize the ongoing work towards freedom and equality.

Kindergarten News

May was a very busy month in kindergarten! Our student teachers this week finished with enthusiasm as they led their peers in learning something new.

We learned how to create pictures with diamond dotz, how different breeds of chickens lay different colored eggs, and how to care for pet chickens!

We are so proud of our “teachers”! They did an amazing job!

Field Day

Students will enjoy Field Day on Friday, June 4 (rain date June 11). To maintain appropriate physical distancing, each grade band (K-4 and 5-8) will have a half day outside for field day.

Students working remotely are welcome to attend for their grade level's field day activities. Please email the main office if your remote student would like to attend. Click the image for more information .

Reminder to Families

Please make sure your child comes to school with a refillable water bottle. As the weather gets warmer, students are drinking more water! Our bubblers are turned off as a covid precaution, so having a refillable water bottle handy helps to ensure that students stay hydrated.

Dail Transportation continues to require that bus riders wear a mask for the duration of the bus ride. Please remind your child(ren) of this expectation. Thank you!
