Pollinator Garden Update & Plant Swap 

Our Climate Motivators, Primrose Watson‑Leung and Bronwyn Eastwood, have been busy nurturing the Norval United Church Pollinator Garden—and they’re excited to share what they’ve learned along the way! Join us during the July 5 Sunday service (in person or online) for a brief and inspiring update on their journey this year.



After the service, stick around for a native plant swap and garden tours. Have native pollinator plants to share? Bring them along! Or simply come ready to take a plant (or two) home to start or grow your own garden.

Take Action for Climate Justice 

As part of the Climate Motivator Host Program, we’re invited to support climate justice by signing the Call for Climate Leadership letter. Prim and Bronwyn will collect our letters and deliver them to our local Members of Parliament—sharing our community’s voices and hopes for action.

Please:

• Print and sign your letter and bring it to church by July 5, or
• Email your completed letter to office@norvalunited.ca by July 5

What We Believe

We are in a Climate Emergency. Mother Earth is hurting. The burning of fossil fuels is warming the planet at an alarming rate and causing devastation. We, humans, are but one strand in a web of life, and only one being among many relations. The land and waters are not resources to be exhausted. Serious disruption and harm has been and continues to be caused by colonization and extractivism in the material and the spiritual. We need to be leaders that seek balance, repair relations, and live with respect in creation today and for seven generations.

Small actions can grow into meaningful change—thank you for being part of it!

Norval Climate Motivators Travelled to Ottawa to advocate for Climate Leadership

The United Church of Canada’s Climate Motivator program, a yearly, national youth employment opportunity has officially begun with Bronwyn Eastwood and Primrose Watson-Leung representing Norval United’s youth, working to make vast improvements to our pollinator garden space.

The program kicked off with an in person week in Ottawa, where 18 youth from across the country gathered to learn climate resilience and advocacy strategies to bring back home to their local communities, meeting and expressing their concerns with politicians like Elizabeth May, Leah Gazan, and Kristina Tessier Derksen.

Bronwyn and Primrose will spend the next weeks expanding Norval United’s pollinator garden with $2000 received from the Seeds of Hope grant, expanding the beds, adding seating, and planting native trees for the longevity of the community space!

Can you help? We're looking for a Leader or Leaders to head up this year's Terry Fox Run "United for Hope" Team.

This year’s run/walk takes place on Sunday, Sept 20th. Georgetown Fairgrounds is the starting point and is run by the Terry Fox Foundation.

The organization’s website provides all the technical support to set up teams, for participants to sign up and for supporters to make donations.

"United for Hope" will include members from Norval, St. John's, St. Andrew's and Hillcrest United Churches, offering a great opportunity for the 4 congregations to build community. 

The Team Leader(s) responsibilities include:

• answering participant and donor questions
• helping to promote and share the website link
• coordinating with the Leads from the other 3 churches
• being a cheerleader for all involved

Support for this role is being offered by Sue Sibley from St. John's, who led

this Spring's UNITED4HOSPICE team.

Find A Friend – Hunt for Pocket Pals



For the remaining Sundays in May and each Sunday in June, those gathered for in-person worship are invited to hunt for one of two hidden Pocket Pals somewhere in the church! They may be hidden in the gathering space, café, or chapel. If you find one, it is yours to keep, or you are invited to pass it along to someone else.

Created by Norval’s Jennifer Barnett, Pocket Pals are a tangible reminder of care, love, and friendship.

Come out and bring your family, friends and neighbours to our 2026 Pride celebration! Join us in celebrating Pride—together as allies and 2SLGBTQIA+ community! Norval United Church is excited to host a donate-what-you-can BBQ on June 27^th from 11am to 1pm. It is optional to bring a dish to share and a lawn chairs for relaxing. 

Affirming Book Club

Join the Affirming Book Club on a journey to o further our education about the church, the bible and how to be a part of the healing journey between the 2SLGBTQIA+ community and the church. We will meet on Wednesday evening at the church between 7 and 8 pm in July and August to discuss the following books:

Community Meeting

See what's next for North Halton Hospice

Join us for a Community Meeting to learn more about the future of hospice care in Milton and Halton Hills. North Halton Hospice will share an update on our progress, the next steps in our campaign, and the vision for building a 10-bed hospice residence that will provide compassionate care at no cost to individuals and families. Guests will also hear from our architects from +VG, who will provide an overview of the site, plans and reveal the new renderings. This gathering is an opportunity to stay informed and learn how our community can help bring compassionate hospice care closer to home.
