Sunday, September 27th

What do we hope to pass on to those who come after us? Our stories and traditions matter, but perhaps faith is passed on most powerfully through the way we live: through compassion, generosity, justice, and love.

This Sunday, we’ll reflect on the invitation to “let the same mind be in you that was in Christ Jesus” and wonder together what it means to live a faith that others can see and experience.

Join us for worship at 9 a.m. online or 10 a.m. in person. As we observe Orange Shirt Sunday, you’re invited to wear orange to say that Every Child Matters. At our 10 a.m. service, we’ll also have the joy of celebrating a baptism together. Wherever you are on your journey, you are welcome.

Join us Online for Worship @ 9:00AM

or

for In-Person for Worship @ 10:00AM

You can find the online service on Facebook Live or on our YouTube channel.

The service will be saved at both locations for viewing through the week.

NEWS

Daena's Corner!

Thank you again for the beautiful Prayer Shawl and Square that you gave me last week.

It is so special and just meant the world to me.

I will be away for a couple of weeks ,returning Sunday October 11th. I have a beautiful daughter that lives in Scotland, so I am heading out to visit with her.

Have a beautiful couple of weeks and I look forward to seeing you all again on October 11th

Blessings, Daena 🙂

The 4 Georgetown United Churches entered a combined United 4 Hope team in this year’s Terry Fox Run/Walk at the Georgetown Fairgrounds on Sun. Sept. 20.  Walkers included Mike Beggs (NV), Bett Leverette (SJ) Drew Leverette (SJ), and Sue Sibley (SJ).  It was the second year for our team and although we were small, we were mighty.

We bettered last year's total of $950 and this year’s goal of $1500, with our current total of $3020.  Thanks to the generosity of our churches’ members, United 4 Hope was the Georgetown Run’s #1 team in fundraising.

The Georgetown Run has raised in excess of $28,500.  For those who would still like to donate, our Run website remains open https://run.terryfox.ca/team/united4hope

Thank you,

Orange Shirt Sunday

September 30 is Orange Shirt Day—a time to remember the children who were taken from their families and communities, honour those who never returned home, and reflect on the lasting impact of residential schools.

On Sunday, September 27, we invite you to wear orange as we mark Orange Shirt Sunday and stand together in remembrance, healing, and hope, affirming the truth that Every Child Matters.

Norval's Display Cabinet

(in the Gathering space next to the fireplace)

The top shelf is a permanent display of prayer squares, a prayer shawl (in memory of Beverley Wilson) and a lap blanket (which was given to and used by George Smith). We welcome requests and are happy to supply any of the above items.

The middle shelf focuses on the life of the church.

The display will be presented by church groups and will change monthly. The month of September is an informative display of the work of our pollinators.

The bottom shelf will also change monthly to bring fun and interesting items from our archives.

Please stop by and enjoy if you can. Also if you have ideas for the future or would like to loan a display piece please let me know.

Blessings

Jennifer. (jdhb2002@yahoo.ca)
