Sunday, June 29th

This Sunday, we’ll reflect on a powerful message from the letter to the Galatians: that true freedom isn’t about serving ourselves, but about living in love. The Spirit’s presence in our lives isn’t defined by appearance or status, but by fruit—love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, generosity, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.

We’ll also revisit the star words we received on Epiphany, those guiding words we’ve been invited to carry and reflect on throughout the year. How have they taken root? What fruit might they be bearing in us?

Join us for a time of worship, reflection, and community as we listen for the Spirit’s movement and celebrate the ways we’re growing together. All are welcome. Come as you are.

Summer Scripture Readers – Help Wanted

We’re looking for volunteer Scripture readers for our summer worship services in July and August! Whether you’ve read before or this would be your first time, all are welcome—and we’d love to hear from children, youth, and families too. Families who wish to read together are warmly encouraged, and guidance or help dividing the reading will gladly be provided.

If you have a Sunday in mind that works well for you, please contact Rev. Heather via email (heather@norvalunited.ca) to sign up. Dates will be filled as responses come in, so please reach out soon if there’s a particular week you’d prefer.

Thank you for helping bring our sacred stories to life this summer!

Children's Programming on Sundays in July and August

Throughout Sundays in the summer, we continue our children's faith formation program. During the beginning of the 10 a.m. worship service, children (and caregivers) are invited to sit at the table in the front of the sanctuary. Colouring sheets, toys, and books are available. Youth offer supervision during this time. Then, children come to the front of the sanctuary for a theme conversation before moving out to the chapel for their Sunday program.

In the chapel, our Program Leaders, Skye Power and Emily Ingles help the children engage with the Bible story for the day. Then, they are invited to the play-room for crafts and activities related to the lesson, nut-free snacks, and play. A youth is there to assist the program leader.

Children are also welcome to stay in the sanctuary with their families throughout the service if that's more comfortable.

As well, we are reaching out to the congregation as we have some spots to fill in our Kids' Sunday Program. A curriculum is available to help with planning and can be accessed digitally. We are looking for volunteers to lead our Kids' Sunday Program (with the support of our Faith Formation Team and M&P) on the following Sundays:

August 3, 24 and 31

We are also looking for youth to assist the program leader/s on August 3, 10 and 31.

Please contact Tammy VanReenen via the church office (office@norvalunited.ca) for more information or if you’re willing to help out.

Heartache2Hope Walk Update

Earlier this month, NUC member Terry Hope shared a powerful video and heartfelt reflections on this year’s Heartache2Hope Walk.

As Terry noted in worship on Sunday, the event brought together 380 registered walkers and volunteers and has already raised over $140,000 in support of the organization. So far in 2025, Heartache2Hope has had 330 people reach out for support.

We give thanks for this vital work, which offers compassion and care to those navigating profound loss.

We’re especially grateful to Terry for the care and dedication he brings to this organization and to all who took part and supported the walk.
