Sunday, June 15th

In a world that sometimes feels uncertain or overwhelming, how do we find grounding, purpose, and joy?

This Sunday, we’ll turn to the voice of Wisdom in Proverbs, a poetic reminder that from the very beginning, God has been creating, delighting, and calling us into deeper connection. Through story, song, and sacred community, we’ll explore how God’s mystery—Creator, Christ, and Spirit—is not just a doctrine, but a lived invitation to hope, healing, and purpose today.

Join us online or in person —there’s a place for you here.

Celebrating 100 Years of The United Church of Canada

On Sunday, June 8, 2025, we gathered as the four Georgetown United Churches at NUC to celebrate the 100th Anniversary of The United Church of Canada.

It was a wonderful celebration and thank you to all who participated, helped, and joined us in-person or online! Click here to read more and see lots of great photos from this day.

A Banner of Hope: A Lasting Gift from Lent 2025

During the season of Lent 2025, the Norval community was invited to reflect on where we have found hope along life’s journey. Each week, fabric strips were placed on the cross in our sanctuary, some with words written on them, others placed in quiet prayer, as we created a tapestry of shared hope, both in person and online.

Now, those offerings have been lovingly transformed into a beautiful banner by Fay Baxter and Maria Tarantino. We are deeply grateful to Fay and Maria for sharing their gifts so generously and for creating a lasting reminder of the hope we discovered together during that sacred season.

Rooted in our theme Hope for the Journey, this banner now hangs in our sanctuary as a visual reminder that we do not travel alone—hope is always being woven among us.

We’re pleased to share a photo so that all, whether near or far, can witness this visible sign of our community’s faith, creativity, and connection.

Where have you found hope lately?

Farmerette Documentary

NUC member, Terry Hope, shared this link for those interested in checking out the documentary and learning more.

We Lend a Hand: The Forgotten Story of Ontario Farmerettes is a documentary film that tells the extraordinary story of 40,000 teenage girls who volunteered on Canadian farms during the Second World War. Terry’s mother-in-law was one of these young women. She would have been about 16, left her home in Capreol, and worked a couple of summers in St. Catharines picking fruit and vegetables.

There will be a screening of the film in Oakville on June 23rd. You can purchase tickets as well as find other screening dates in various locations at: www.welendahand.ca
