UCC 100th Anniversary Service

Join us on June 8th at 10 a.m. at Norval for a special worship service with the four Georgetown United Churches as we celebrate The United Church of Canada’s 100th Anniversary! Please join us in-person or via livestream on Norval’s Facebook page or YouTube channel.

Our loose offering that morning will be in support of the North Halton Hospice – something that all four Georgetown UC’s have been working together to support and bring this dream to our community. From the Chair of the Executive

After 5 1/2 years as chair of the Executive Team, I will be stepping down as of June 30, 2025. I would like to thank everyone for your support and encouragement during my time as chair, it has truly been an honour to serve in this capacity.

According to the NUC Governance, John Eastwood, as current Vice Chair, will assume the Chair position as July 1, 2025.

As per the newly revised terms of office, John will hold the position of chair until March 2027, with the possibility of a 1-year extension to March 2028. This move will leave a vacancy on the executive for the Vice Chair position.

The Executive Team will be looking to fill this position in early fall. The team does not meet during July and August, therefore will take that time to find a new candidate.

Please join me in welcoming John as the new chair.

For those that were at the Congregational Meeting on Sunday, thank you for your kind words and your show of appreciation. It meant a lot.

Friendship Group

will gather in the sanctuary on Tuesday, June 10th, 2025 at 1:00 pm for light refreshments.

We will be car pooling to the Lucy Maud Montgomery Garden located at 477 Guelph Street in Norval. While there, we will explore this beautiful rich sensory garden reflective of earlier times.

In the event of inclement weather, we will enjoy an afternoon of euchre, board games and fun in the sanctuary.

A bunch of guys meet at the church each week to watch videos, ask big questions and work to find answers. They've also enjoyed having various guest speakers attend. Anyone is welcome to join.

Supporting Heartache2Hope and Walk 2 Remember

We are grateful to NUC member Terry Hope for sharing a meaningful video highlighting his journey with Heartache2Hope (https://heartache2hope.com/) — an organization offering compassionate support to those grieving the loss of a loved one to suicide in Halton and surrounding communities. After first attending their grief groups, Terry completed peer support training and now helps others navigate this difficult journey.

The video shares part of Terry’s story and promotes Heartache2Hope’s annual Walk 2 Remember fundraiser on June 14th, supporting this vital work.
