With the memory of the recent graduation ceremony still fresh in our minds, I would like to take this opportunity to extend a congratulations and appreciation to the graduating Class of 2024. This year has not only seen impressive achievements within our schools but has also been marked by the significant contributions our seniors have made to the Norwalk community and their readiness for future endeavors.
Our graduates have consistently demonstrated their excellence, ambition, and commitment throughout their academic careers. Now, as alumni, they are well-prepared for their next chapters. This group of seniors received approximately $40,000 in scholarships awarded to help pave their way. Many of our seniors engaged in concurrent enrollment courses, Postsecondary Enrollment Options (PSEO), and Advanced Placement (AP) classes, with the district funding an impressive $580,000 for 6,597 credits across more than 2,200 courses. This initiative not only prepares our students for the challenges of higher education but also alleviates financial burdens, making college more accessible and affordable for their families.
We also take a moment to acknowledge the important role that parents and families have played in reaching this milestone. Your dedication—from helping with early schooling to handling the tough parts of advanced classes and activities—has been crucial in shaping these capable young adults. Thank you, graduates, for leaving a legacy of high achievement and community spirit here in Norwalk. Remember, no matter where life takes you, you will always be a Warrior.
Graduates, as you move forward, remember that your graduation was not just a ceremony but a celebration of your hard work, resilience, and the skills you've developed over the years. It marked both an end and a beginning.
