Update from Norwin School District
Superintendent Dr. Jeff Taylor
March 20, 2020
Dear Norwin School District Families and Members of the Community,

We understand how difficult this school shutdown has been for everyone and appreciate your patience during this time of adjustment.

Today, I learned that there is a confirmed case of COVID-19 in North Huntingdon Township. Now, more than ever, it is extremely important that we all practice social distancing as much as possible while balancing our roles in supporting our students and community members. For this reason, please be reminded that all Norwin facilities are closed to the public during our district shutdown.

In the spirit of keeping the Norwin community connected and having fun, we are doing a Norwin Virtual Spirit week on our Twitter Page ( @NorwinSD ).

We are encouraging students to dress up each day and for parents to take and upload pictures of their children participating.
The complete list of days can be viewed below.

  • Monday 3/23: Norwin School Spirit Wear Day
  • Tuesday 3/24: Pajama Day
  • Wednesday 3/25: Hat Day
  • Thursday 3/26: Favorite Sports Team Jersey Day (College, Pro, Anything!)
  • Friday 3/27: Crazy Dress / Crazy Hair Day

Step-by-Step Instructions to Share Your Child's Photo
  1. Take a picture of your child.
  2. Post it on your Twitter account, but also...
  3. Be sure to mention @NorwinSD and use the hashtag #NorwinVirtualSpiritWeek

Families who just want to observe the fun and not share any photos are welcome to view a feed of the Norwin Twitter page that is mirrored on the Norwin School District website. For this option, simply visit www.norwinsd.org/virtualspiritweek/ (forward slash at the end is required).

I would like to thank those of you who viewed my video message on March 19, 2020. For those of you who prefer to read about my video message, please click here for a transcript of the video message.

These are difficult days for our school district, our families and our nation. I sincerely appreciate your ongoing support as we travel down an unprecedented path. I am confident that ”Together We Can” get through this health crisis. Stay safe, healthy and #NorwinStrong!

Best regards,

Dr. Jeff Taylor
Superintendent
