Video: Elementary Students Make Joyful Music from Home

Ms. Rachel Read's students at Stewartsville and Sunset Valley have been making music from their homes through online lessons.

She assembled a video montage to showcase the happiness of her students practicing recorder songs, learning the Cup Song, making their own instruments at home, or singing a simple song.

"Between long days spent on the computer, and missing the time of teaching in my classroom, these photos and videos have brought me such joy!" Ms. Read said. "Ou r community and these students are for sure #norwinstrong ."

Lunch Distributions Feeding Nearly 450 Students Each Week

Every Monday and Wednesday through the school shutdown, the School District has been serving a bagged lunch for students in the Free and Reduced Lunch Program.

The lunch program on Mondays supplies enough food for Monday and Tuesday, and the lunch program on Wednesdays provides enough food for Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. According to Mr. Rod Stewart, Director of Food and Nutrition Services, Norwin School District is feeding nearly 450 students per week through the program.

Here are pictures of food distribution that took place on Wednesday April 22nd. Additional perishable items and toiletries from the High School Store, Castle Keep and Life Skills student store were also distributed on that day.

Thank you to our cafeteria personnel for providing this service week after week through this shutdown.
"Together We Can" Yard Signs Support Norwin Backpack Program

Looking for a great way to support Norwin students AND provide some inspiration for your neighborhood?

If yes, please consider purchasing a double-sided "Together We Can" yard sign for $14.99 from the UPS store in White Oak. $3 from each sale will be donated to the Norwin Lions Club to help with its food backpack program, which directly benefits Norwin students.

The Lions' Club “Cubcake Wars,” which is the Lions Club’s biggest fundraiser for the program, had to be canceled this year.

The yard signs can be ordered by calling 412-664-1462 or by emailing store5985@theupsstore.com . These signs are a great way to show support for our school community while also supporting the community as well.
Norwin Teachers Support Local First Responders
