Update from Norwin School District
Superintendent Dr. Jeff Taylor
March 24, 2020
Dear Norwin School District Families and Members of the Community,

I hope this message finds you and your families well. This is a brief update to share that Norwin teachers are continuing to prepare online instruction for students, with instruction set to begin on Monday, March 30, 2020 . Instruction will be provided through Google Classroom. We will share more details in the very near future about how to prepare for a successful transition to online instruction.

Technology Survey
Last week, a survey was distributed to all families to determine needs in regard to technology necessary for online instruction. If you did not complete the survey and have technology needs, please email techsupport@norwinsd.org as soon as possible.

Screen-Free Activities for Families
Additionally, as the father of an elementary-aged student myself, I know that many parents may be looking for ways to keep their children engaged during the current school district shutdown. Although I am a proponent of instructional technology, I also strongly believe that students should not have unlimited amounts of unstructured screen time. However, with parents trying to juggle work schedules and family responsibilities, trying to find time to plan screen-free activities may be daunting. Therefore, I have collected some screen-free activity ideas that you and your family may want to consider.

Please click here to read these screen-free activities for families.

Stay safe, healthy, and #NorwinStrong.

Best regards,

Dr. Jeff Taylor
Superintendent

Norwin Lunches for Students in the Free and Reduced Lunch Program
  • Every Monday and Wednesday through the shutdown, the District will serve a bagged lunch of a Smuckers Uncrustable, cheese stick, MJM snack crackers, milk, fruit, and juice for students enrolled in our free and reduced lunch program. We will be serving from 11am - 1pm from the Norwin High School Auditorium doors (Door No. 6). People will not need to get out of their vehicles to retrieve the meals as our food service employees will walk the bagged lunches to the cars. The lunch program on Mondays will supply enough food for Monday and Tuesday, and the lunch program on Wednesdays will supply enough food for Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday.
