2025 Central Indiana Nonprofit Salary Report Now Available

Nonprofit leaders across Central Indiana now have access to a vital new tool: the 2025 Central Indiana Nonprofit Salary Report, published by Charitable Advisors and available free of charge.

This eighth edition of the survey compiles salary and benefits data for 26 nonprofit positions, offering organizations critical benchmarks to guide compensation decisions. With responses from 319 nonprofits—more than double the sample size of typical surveys—the report delivers a comprehensive view of the region’s nonprofit workforce.

First launched in 2010, the salary report was created to fill a longstanding gap: before then, no summary of nonprofit wages and benefits existed for Central Indiana. Today, the report is considered a cornerstone resource for boards and executives seeking to balance limited budgets with the need to recruit and retain qualified staff.

“We regularly hear about the value this information provides to nonprofits to benchmark pay rates for specific roles and to consider changes to benefit offerings,” said Bryan Orander, president of Charitable Advisors. “Our hope is that these survey results will help organizations of all sizes attract and keep the talent they need to achieve their missions.”

How Energy Assessments Can Unlock Cost Savings for Nonprofits

Nonprofits are vital to the communities they serve, providing essential services like early childhood education, health care, affordable housing, workforce development training, and other supports that contribute to stronger, more vibrant places to live and work.

In most cases, these organizations could achieve even greater positive impact if they had more resources to support their work, which is one of the most important reasons to invest in the energy efficiency of nonprofit facilities. Every dollar spent on utility bills is a dollar not spent on community-strengthening programming, and, with many nonprofits operating in older, energy-inefficient buildings, those dollars can quickly add up.

By replacing energy inefficient windows, doors, and roofs, and installing smart thermostats, low-flow plumbing fixtures, and LED lights, among other examples, organizations can achieve significant cost savings that can then be reinvested directly into programs. Each facility is unique, however, as is how they’re used, and it may not always be apparent what building upgrades are needed, or possible, to maximize energy efficiency. For that reason, a formal energy assessment can be a useful step for organizations interested in pursuing such projects.

Indiana University School of Medicine promoted Corie Farnsley to director of communication, faculty affairs and professional development. Farnsley previously was a communication generalist, faculty affairs and professional development.

Foster Success has named Anastasia Sullivan as the health & well-being program coordinator. Sullivan previously was an executive administrative assistant at Ivy Tech Community College – Indianapolis.

The Indiana Parkinson Foundation named Lindsay Williams as the fitness director. Williams is a veteran dance instructor.

Muncie Habitat for Humanity named Brad Tomlin as construction director. Tomlin previously worked for J. Demaree Construction.

ANNOUNCEMENTS

Midwest Food Bank of Indiana has launched a $9 million “Under One Roof” campaign to build a 50,000-square-foot Indianapolis-area warehouse consolidating two sites. The centralized hub will cut costs and increase efficiency, distributing food to after-school programs, senior centers, community centers, domestic violence shelters, homelessness services organizations and food pantries. FIRST Indiana Robotics has received a $373,900 grant from Lilly Endowment Inc. to support capacity building. Funds will expand event management resources, widen the group’s reach to impact more youth statewide, and strengthen operations for long-term growth. Read more

The Indiana Donor Network Foundation has awarded $25,000 in scholarships to seven college students who are family members of Indiana residents who saved lives through organ and tissue donation. Read more

The Indiana Community Action Poverty Institute is accepting applications for the 2025-26 Community Action Policy Fellows program. The Institute will select two individuals focused on basic needs and/or environmental justice policy change, and a third fellowship for a new parent of a child age 0-3 to address the needs of young families. Apply by September 22

Nominations are open for ELEVATE, United Way of Central Indiana’s annual awards event honoring top young philanthropists, advocates, nonprofit employees and volunteers. The event will recognize six individuals or groups for leadership, creativity and community impact. Nominations are due Sept. 26.

Summer Youth Programs is accepting applications for 2026 grants, which support Marion County youth programs providing safe spaces to study, read, learn, play sports, connect with friends, and engage in educational and emotional enrichment. Learn more and register for orientation
