Congratulations to Will Wood, PA APP Manager Emergency Department for completing the Improvement and leadership Development Program teach back. Teach back is the culmination of UCSF Health's most intensive continuous improvement training program. Participants are evaluated on knowledge and comprehension of fundamental principles. Will delivered three oral presentations and demonstrated an exceptional grasp of complex improvement systems. "The Lean program is a great way to think outside the box and helps simplify complex problems", says Will. Transplant NPs in the community
The solid organ transplant NPs Lisa Gallagher, Megan Keating, Marilyn McEnhill and Jessica Brennan along with committee chair Michelle McMahan, Manager, Public Relations and Special Projects hosted the 26th annual transplant picnic for patients and families that have undergone lifesaving kidney, liver and heart transplants. Parents from each organ team gave heartfelt accounts on their journey through organ transplant. APP Leading Pediatric to Adult Transition Clinic
Natalia Zorrilla, PNP within the Pediatric Brain Center (PBC) was recently assigned to lead the young adult transition clinic in the Pediatric Headache Center. Established patients at the headache clinic will now have access to a provider that not only will continue to care for their headache disorder but will coach them in the process of transitioning their care to adult healthcare. Natalia also is in the process of building into Epic a validated and reliable transition planning tool that will streamline the process, allowing a smoother transition for both patients and clinicians.

Last Year 198 APPs completed the Net Electronic Health Record Experience Survey. 59% felt ongoing APeX training was insufficient, which is the lowest 7th percentile for Epic organizations. Form this feedback the Office of Advanced Practice Providers developed an ongoing APeX training program specific to APPs.

Do you spend alot of time caring for a patient on the date of the visit that surpasses the typical time for level 5 (99205/99215) office visits? This includes ordering medications, tests, procedures, communicating with other clinicians, documenting in the health record, reviewing obtained history, when shared visits (MD/APP) extended time thresholds are met. BCH Mission Bay Inpatient Expansion
The first and fifth floors at BCH Mission Bay will be transformed into a new state-of-the-art pediatric neurology unit and expanded pediatric transitional care space, adding at total of 10 inpatient beds. Construction will begin on both floors in November, with an estimated completion date in late 2024 and first patients being seen in early 2025. This expansion necessitates the decommissioning of overnight bed spaces currently operated by Ronald McDonald House (RMH) as well as kitchen, lounge and laundry facilities. RMH will continue to provide two daily free meals for pediatric families and visitors through the Center for Families on the sixth floor.

This e-learning module series provides interprofessional frontline care providers a basic introduction to understanding and improving their EBP knowledge. The online experience is self-paced and can be a great way to get a start on EBP fundamentals or reinforce knowledge that you want to review. You will be awarded 10 contact hours upon completion of all content, which is divided into seven modules. Each module is accompanied by an EBP Playbook, which stimulates critical thinking in applying the EBP concepts.
