Dear Colleagues,

How time flies! It’s difficult to believe we’re already a full month into 2020. By now I’ve been able to speak with most of you by phone; I hope to finish up my calls with you during this month. I’ve shared your feedback so far with the Executive Committee (ExCom) to assist us in making our plans.

The standing committees have begun meeting by now; thank you for the extra time you give to participate. It’s especially important for all of us to do our part since we are now beginning the work of implementing the strategic plan. The ExCom hasn’t been idle in this. Already we’ve begun working on the tactics assigned to the ExCom. Your standing committee chairs will share information on those projects as we progress.

The National Guard and Reserve Coverage Task Force (NGRTF) will continue its work, with a view to submitting its final report to the ExCom by the end of July.
Hawaii State Commissioner Kathleen Berg (HI), who chairs the Task Force, will share the results with the Commission at our Annual Business Meeting in October.

April is closer than we think! Let’s all get ready to Purple Up! f or military kids. Please collect information and pictures of the Month of the Military Child (MOTMC) activities in your states and provide them to the national office. To help you and the school districts in your states, the Communications and Outreach Committee is preparing a Toolkit for MOTMC. Watch for it to be released in March.

Lastly, please remember to "save the date" for the next Annual Business Meeting on October 1-2, 2020 here in Arkansas at the Marriot Little Rock Hotel.

Thank you all for the extra service you give for the children of our service members. The work you do is vitally important to taking care of our military families and contributes directly to the readiness of the uniformed services.

Respectfully,
John I. "Don" Kaminar
Chair
