Dear Colleagues,
There’s a lot going on with the Compact and the Commission! It’s an exciting time to be involved in this vital service to military-connected students.
Your responses to the survey seeking your input to the draft strategic plan were creative and thoughtful. With your feedback, the Executive Committee has made some revisions to the strategies and will vote on the plan at its next meeting. The draft plan will be included in the agenda for the Annual Business Meeting, during which time the standing committees will continue to work on the tactics. The result will be an excellent three-year plan that can truly advance the Compact in meaningful ways.
You know by now about the National Guard and Reserve Task Force (NGRTF) we’ve created to study the question of whether the families of reserve component service members may need the protections of the Compact. That Task Force, chaired by Commissioner Kathy Berg (HI), held its first meeting yesterday. Please give Commissioner Berg and the Task Force members any assistance they may ask of you.
Last, I think I speak for all of us when I say how sad I am at the departure of Communications Associate Richard Pryor. Richard has been with the Commission’s national staff for over nine years and has been a crucial member of our team. He has brought to his work all the dedication, professionalism, and excellence one would expect from a former Sergeant Major in the British Army. Richard, good-bye, good luck in your new venture, and thank you. We salute you.
Respectfully,
John I. “Don” Kaminar
Chairman (AR)
