This book deals with the famous 284-car order of passenger cars C&O placed right after WWII to reequip all its trains. The order was cut down over the years until there were only about 120 cars delivered to C&O in 1950. Even some of these were sold to other railroads, though. Other cars had already been sold to various railroads before they were delivered to C&O. This made the whole group widely interesting among railfans, passenger train aficionados, and modelers.
This 96-page book with over 160 photos tells the complete story in text, roster and detailed exterior and inside photos. Interwoven is the story of C&O passenger trains in the last 20 years of service when the coaches, sleepers, and a few of the other cars from this order constituted the bulk of C&O's passenger train operations.
