Bringing the 2-6-6-6 Alleghany Back to Life
The C&O Heritage Center Mural Project Fund Raiser
The C&O Historical Society will be participating in the Give Local Alleghany Highlands online fundraiser on June 15, 2021 to raise money for the Heritage Center Mural Project. The Society is pleased to partner with Alleghany Highlands Local Artist William Jennings who will be charged with painting the mural.
The mural will be painted on the retaining wall at the Heritage Center in Clifton Forge and will feature a Chesapeake and Ohio H-8 Alleghany locomotive powering a manifest freight train. When completed, the mural will be approximately 200 feet in length covering over 2400 square feet.
Please consider making a contribution to mural project which will preserve and increase the appreciation of the C&O Railway’s history for residents and visitors to the Alleghany Highlands, along with contributing to the beautification of downtown Clifton Forge and the Heritage Center.
