How thrilled we are to welcome 100 new music majors and minors to our Dewberry School of Music for our Fall 2023 semester! We look forward to celebrating our new and returning students, faculty, and staff in our Fall 2023 Dewberry School of Music Convocation this upcoming Monday, August 28 at 12.30 pm in Harris Theater.  Please join us! 

You are invited to an alumni concert this Sunday, August 27 showcasing compositions of Juan Megna (DMA 2021) and his upcoming album, funded in part by Dr. Megna’s win of the 2023 Young Alumni Commissioning Award from Mason’s College of Visual and Performing Arts (CVPA) Young Alumni Commissioning Project.

Join us for a spectacular opening of our 2023 Fall Concert season with a Grand Piano Celebration on Sunday, September 10 at 3 p.m. in Mason's Center for the Arts. This concert honors Mason's All-Steinway School. Exciting and dramatic solo piano, duo-piano, and collaborative piano masterworks will be performed by faculty and student artists. Mason's faculty piano ensemble (8 hands) will also be showcased! In addition, Prof. Jennifer Casey Cabot, soprano; Dr. Kathleen Mulcahy, clarinet; and Dr. Dennis Edelbrock, trumpet will be featured.

Tickets are available for our Dewberry School of Music Fall 2023 Concert Series featuring our incredibly talented music students in a wide variety of instrumental and vocal ensembles. We are thrilled to feature our Mason Wind Symphony and Symphonic Band concert on Tuesday, September 26. Please also purchase your tickets now for the College of Visual and Performing Arts signature event on Saturday, September 30, Arts by George!

Join College of Visual and Performing Arts alumnus, Juan Megna (Doctor of Musical Arts, 2021), and the Juan Megna Group for a concert of his upcoming album “Mariwô Project” this Sunday evening, August 27 at 5 pm in Harris Theater.



This premiere event showcases Megna’s compositions and his upcoming album, funded in part by Megna’s win of the 2023 Young Alumni Commissioning Award from Mason’s College of Visual and Performing Arts Young Alumni Commissioning Project.

This event is free and open to the public, but registration is required.

Join us for a spectacular opening of our 2023 Fall Concert season with A Grand Piano Celebration on Sunday, September 10 at 3 p.m. in Mason's Center for the Arts.

This concert honors Mason's All-Steinway School. Outstanding student and faculty artists of the Reva and Sid Dewberry Family School of Music at George Mason University will be on stage to display their marvelous talents. The concert will be led by Dr. Linda Apple Monson, International Steinway Artist and Director of the Dewberry School of Music. She will be joined on stage by Mason faculty artists including Dr. Dennis Edelbrock, trumpet; Dr. Anna Balakerskaia, duo-piano; Dr. John Healey, piano ensemble; Dr. Eunae Ko Han, piano ensemble; Prof. Jennifer Casey Cabot, soprano; and Dr. Kathleen Mulcahy, clarinet. Exciting and dramatic solo piano, duo-piano works, and collaborative piano works will be performed. Mason's faculty piano ensemble (8 hands) will also be showcased!

Tickets: $20 Adults $15 Seniors, $5 Youth

The Mason Wind Symphony and Symphonic Band will present its first concert titled FUSION, on Tuesday, September 26 at 8 pm in the Center for the Arts Concert Hall. This concert celebrates the unique ways artists draw inspiration from different sources to create a masterpiece that goes beyond its parts.

Featured works on this concert include Scott McAllister’s "Black Dog" featuring Professor of Clarinet, Dr. Kathleen Mulcahy. Inspired by the music of Led Zeppelin and Yasuhide Ito’s Gloriosa, this work is a symphonic poem fusing Gregorian chant and Japanese folk music.

The Mason Wind Symphony and Symphonic Band are excited to welcome the Fairfax Wind Symphony, a Fairfax, VA-based community band directed by Stan Schoonover, to share the Center for the Arts stage for this season opener.

Save the date for the annual ARTS by George! on Saturday, September 30, 2023! This annual benefit event supports student scholarships at George Mason University’s College of Visual and Performing Arts, Mason Community Arts Academy, Green Machine Ensembles, and the Great Performances at Mason season at the Center for the Arts.

The evening begins by showcasing the remarkable talents of Mason arts students amid an array of spectacular food and beverages, and culminates with an exciting headliner performance of Renée Elise Goldsberry, best known for her Tony Award-winning portrayal of Angelica Schuyler in Hamilton in the Center for the Arts Concert Hall.
