The Dewberry Faculty Artist Series continues this Sunday, February 18 with 3 pm and 7 pm free performances in Harris Theater. Prof. Jennifer Casey Cabot, soprano and Dr. Eunae Ko Han, piano will present a beautiful program The Romantics at 3 pm with works by Clara and Robert Schumann, Cecil Chaminade, Rossini, Bizet, and Debussy. The Spheres Project at 7 pm this Sunday features a performance of Brahms Sextet No. 2 with Prof. June Huang, violin; Matthew Gardner, violin; Prof. Nana Vaughn, viola; Alyssa Cabassa, viola; Megan Shin, cello; and Dr. Jessica Powell Eig, double bass. Dr. Tom C. Owens will provide program commentary.
We are looking forward to a special Tribute to Professor Anthony Maiello with our Mason Symphony Orchestra on Wednesday, February 21 at 8 pm in our Center for the Arts. Maestro Maiello and Dr. Soo Han will lead the Mason Symphony Orchestra in this exciting performance which will also feature guest conductor and director of “The President’s Own” United States Marine Band, Lt. Col. Ryan J. Nowlin. Guest artists also include Dr. Linda Monson, pianist, and Prof. Jim Carroll, saxophonist. We are thrilled to present a NASM Student Showcase Recital on Monday, February 26 at 12.30 pm in Harris Theater. Please join us for this free recital showcasing our marvelous music students from each degree, concentration, and performance area within our Dewberry School of Music.
Mark your calendars for a fabulous Wind Symphony & Symphonic Band Concert on Tuesday, February 27 at 8 pm in the Center for the Arts. Directed by Dr. William Lake, Jr., this concert will also feature Derik Wright, graduate conductor, and Lydia Sorenson, marimba soloist. Kudos to the Mason Wind Symphony on their prestigious invitation to perform at the Maryland Music Educators Conference in Baltimore, Maryland on February 23!
