Dear Mason School of Music Family,

We are deeply saddened by the passing of our dear colleague and friend, Professor Edward Fraedrich.  We have lost a great saxophonist, an incredible artist and teacher, and a phenomenal human being. We are heartbroken with the devastating news of his sudden passing on April 28. The legacy of Professor Fraedrich lives on through his artistry and inspired teaching of our wonderful saxophone students at Mason.  A Celebration of Life Service for Prof. Ed Fraedrich will be held this Saturday, May 10 at 11 a.m at Washington Farm United Methodist Church (3921 Old Mill Rd, Alexandria, VA 22309).

We invite you to join us for our Dewberry School of Music Honors Recital (free admission) on Saturday, May 10 at 8 pm in Harris Theater.  The outstanding student artists (soloists and chamber musicians) have been selected for this prestigious Honors Recital by audition. Additionally, you are welcome to attend our twelve student degree recitals occurring May 8 - 14.  

We thank our Friends of Music at Mason for your kindness and thoughtfulness with the Snack Attack provided during Music Juries (music performance final exams) this week.

We are thrilled to announce our Dewberry School of Music Honors Recital will be held on Saturday, May 10 at 8:00 p.m. in Harris Theatre. Our Honors Recital (Free Admission) showcases our amazing Mason Music students (including solo and chamber ensemble performances) with piano, voice, strings, woodwind, and brass instruments. These outstanding student artists have been selected for this prestigious Honors Recital by audition.

It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we inform you of the passing of our dear colleague and friend,Professor Edward Fraedrich. We have lost a great saxophonist, an incredible artist and teacher, and a phenomenal human being. We are heartbroken with the devastating news of his sudden passing on April 28.

We were fortunate to have Professor Fraedrich on our Dewberry School of Music adjunct faculty since Fall 2011. A music alumnus of George Mason University, Professor Fraedrich contributed so very much to our woodwind area, especially with his marvelous teaching of applied saxophone and his dedicated coaching of the Mason Saxophone Quartet. He will be greatly missed by our Mason Music students, faculty, and staff. 

Join us for The Celebration of Life Service for Prof. Ed Fraedrich this Saturday, May 10 at 11 a.m. The service will be held at Washington Farm United Methodist Church (3921 Old Mill Rd, Alexandria, VA 22309).

In lieu of flowers, the family requests those who wish to express sympathy to consider making a donation to the Dewberry School of Music Student Scholarship Fund in memory of Prof. Ed Fraedrich. Memorial donation details can be found in the obituary below.
