Gilbert & Sullivan's The Gondoliers
Gilbert and Sullivan’s last great musical hilariously satirizes class distinctions. Due to an error of identity when they were young, a gaggle of charming Venetian gondoliers are informed that one of them is the heir to the throne of Barataria. The tribulations of governing and romance are lampooned in this delightful musical theater piece by the masters of comic opera.
Music Technology News
In September, Dr. Jesse Guessford was invited as a panelist to the first ever Musiccomms conference. The one-day conference brought together industries from telecommunications, power, computing, and music to discuss the future of music in the 21st century. It was a fascinating day of conversation that will hopefully lead to changes in the delivery and payment of artists and composers.

The students of Mason Noise, below, have been very busy at the beginning of the school year. Mason Noise, comprised of current student and alumni of the music technology program, performed at the opening of the MIX@Fenwick . These acts provided entertainment for President Cabrera, the Secretary of Technology of the Virginia Commonwealth, and other guests for the dedication ceremony of the new space. Mason Noise also used this opportunity to announce the release of their third project from The Gem Fragments titled  The Uglies . In addition to this release, please look for an upcoming release from Jeff Cohen and Abby Rasheed.

Inside Look: Mason Noise
Mason Noise is the student-directed record label within the Music Technology program at Mason. The label provides real-world experience for students in the program, who take on different roles for the recording, mixing, producing and release of the project.
Mason Jazz in Down Beat Magazine
Mason Jazz Studies made the Down Beat cover of "Where to Study Jazz 2018." This part of the magazine lists over 240 schools and their respective Jazz programs and comes out once a year. Kudos!
