Dear Mason School of Music Family,

Thank you for your support last weekend of  Arts by George! We were very proud of our music student performances. We want you to be aware of an incredible lineup of upcoming events presented by our School of Music.  Please join us tonight for our Mason Symphonic Band and Percussion Ensemble concert and next week for our Mason Symphony Orchestra All-Beethoven concert in Fairfax on Wednesday, October 10 and in Washington, DC on Friday, October 12!  Our Faculty Artist Showcase Recital on Sunday, October 14th at 3 pm is free and open to the public; this concert is also part of Mason's Alumni Weekend Festivities. We look forward to greeting everyone, especially our music alumni, at a post-concert reception on October 14th.  Please mark your calendars for a terrific fall season of outstanding concerts, masterclasses, and workshops at Mason's School of Music. We appreciate your support of our phenomenal music students and faculty.

Symphonic Band and Percussion Ensemble

The Mason Symphonic Band under the vibrant musical leadership of Professors John Kilkenny and Denny Stokes, provides music majors and increasingly growing numbers of non-music majors an opportunity to study and perform a wide variety of traditional and contemporary wind band literature.

The Percussion Ensemble will perform works by John Cage and Rudiger Pawassar.

The Mason Wind Symphony, under the direction of Professor Mark Camphouse performs alongside the Fairfax Wind Symphony. Programs include world premieres of student and faculty compositions, student and faculty soloists, and more traditional repertoire.

Join the Baroque Dance Workshop for Instrumentalists presented by Paige Whitley-Bauguess. This first classes are an interactive introduction to the dance steps of the Baroque court dances, followed by a performance lecture and demonstration open to all at 5:30 pm.
