Jazz Percussion
Drummer and percussionist Kevin McDonald’s performance credits include Dave Liebman, Mark Turner, Paquito D’Rivera, Miguel Zenon, Bob Mintzer, Randy Brecker, and Lee Konitz in international venues including Jazz at Lincoln Center, The Kennedy Center, The White House,The U.S. Library of Congress, JEN, The Midwest Clinic, and Bimhuis.

Dr. Joanna Owen, Violin
Joanna Owen joined the George Mason Music Faculty in the fall of 2019. She received her Master of Music degree from the San Francisco Conservatory and her Doctor of Musical Arts Degree from the Eastman School of Music. Her additional studies include Music Academy of the West in Santa Barbara, California, Accademia Chigiana in Sienna, Italy, as well as the Austro-American Institute in Vienna, Austria.

This summer,
Dr. Robert Gillam (Music Technology faculty member) was selected to receive the National Association of Musical Merchants (NAMM) Foundation-CMS Fellows award. He had to opportunity to travel to the Summer NAMM show in Nashville, TN, attending workshops and discussion panels. The focus of the program was to provide industry resources for University music faculty to get students connected to jobs in the music industry.
The NAMM foundation also provides scholarships for music students to travel to the annual NAMM show in Anaheim, CA. GMU music students are highly encouraged to apply. The application can be found
