Dear Mason Music Family,
We are excited to present amazing performances by our incredibly talented and hard-working School of Music students. Please join us this weekend at Mason for a fabulous Classical Guitar masterclass on Friday morning, Tuba-Euphonium concert on Saturday afternoon, and Mason's Choral Showcase "A Jubilant Song" this Sunday at 4 pm in Harris Theater. We have a double-bill this Monday evening, Nov. 18th, in that we are presenting our Brass Ensemble concert at 6 pm, followed by our Jazz Combos/Latin American Ensemble Concert at 8 pm. We are thrilled to have Lori Laitman, acclaimed art song composer, present vocal masterclasses next week with our student artists.
We are grateful to have the opportunity to present our ensembles in a new Mason Concert Series at Old Town Hall, Fairfax this season. Mason's Brass Ensemble will be performing a free concert this upcoming Wednesday, November 20 at 7 pm at Old Town Hall. Please join us!
Make plans now to purchase tickets for Mason's upcoming Jazz Vocal Night on November 25, a delightful Mason Opera production on December 6-7 at the Hylton, and Mason Symphony Orchestra Holiday Concert on December 8.

Mason Opera: Offenbach's Mesdames de la Halle
Friday, December 6th - Saturday, December 7th
Hylton Performing Arts Center Gregory Family Theater
|
|
Celebrate the joy of the holiday season with Mason Opera and its exciting December production of
Mesdames de la Halle, a comic one-act opérette bouffe by Jacques Offenbach, with libretto by Armand Lapointe. First performed in Paris in 1859, this charming comedy revolves around the competitive street vendors of a famous Parisian fruit and vegetable market, “La Halle.” All the women vendors have fallen head over heels in love with the handsome, young, kitchen boy, Croûte-au-pot, and they compete for his attention. Croûte-au-pot however loves the beautiful fruit vendor, Ciboulette. After a comedy of errors and misplaced identity, true love triumphs! Performed in English, this delightful opera is full of the beautiful music and comedic genius of Offenbach, and will bring laughter and joy to patrons of all ages!
