Don’t miss this stellar virtual celebration featuring Mason’s extraordinary student artists -- pianists, singers, and Mason's Trumpet Ensemble (led by Dr. Dennis Edelbrock) -- in special performances to celebrate the renaming of the School of Music as the Reva and Sid Dewberry Family School of Music.
Outstanding faculty artists include Dr. Linda Apple Monson, pianist, in collaboration with Dr. Anna Balakerskaia (duo-piano), Prof. Julianna Nickel (flute), Dr. Kathleen Mulcahy (clarinet), and Prof. Kerry Wilkerson (baritone). A thrilling eight-hand piano work will showcase Prof. Wade Beach, Dr. John Healey, and Drs. Balakerskaia and Monson.

Immediately following the Grand Piano Celebration concert, Friends of Music at Mason (FOMM) will host a delightful Zoom reception to thank the Dewberry Family for their tremendous generosity for music scholarship endowment support and congratulate the concert's extraordinary performers.
Please join us in lifting a glass for a toast with your Friends, School of Music faculty, student performers, and special guests. There will be some fun surprises...so don't miss our celebratory reception!

Director of Music Theory Dr. Megan Lavengood was recently published in Engaging Students: Essays in Music Pedagogy, writing about a new Mason theory curriculum that was designed alongside Mason Music professors Dr. Elaine Rendler, Dr. Tom Owens, and Prof. June Huang. Mason student Riley Baisch was recently named the recipient of the 2020 National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) President’s Innovation Award! This award honors college students who demonstrate excellence in the field of music and who are interested in pursuing a career in the music products industry. Mason alumna Gretchen Kuhrmann (MM Choral Conducting) recently spearheaded an initiative to give back to the D.C. community through the local choirs in the area. She has helped raise over $30,000 for the Capital Area Food Bank! View the video and article here.
