Spring 2021 Series
Kudos!
The GMU Tuba Euphonium Ensemble's performance of Ignition by Kevin Day was recently chosen by the composer to be used as a reference recording! In addition, this recording received notable attention from composition contests and other tuba and euphonium ensembles. Congratulations!

The GMU Tuba Euphonium Ensemble is directed by Dr. David Porter and Dr. Mark Jenkins.
Dewberry School of Music student Teresa Jenkins applied for and was given a grant through the Office of Scholarship, Creative Activities and Research (OSCAR)! Her research project, "A Concise Guide to Underrepresented Clarinet Literature: Chamber Music Edition", was selected by OSCAR from a very competitive pool of applicants. Through this project, Teresa hopes to add sheet music to the George Mason University Winds Library complete with a concise guide filled with pieces that are written by BIPOC, LGTBQIA+, and Women composers. All pieces will be scored on a unique and innovative rubric based on accessibility, rhythmic complexity, extended techniques, and cost.
