Dear Friends, Colleagues, Students, and Alumni,
We invite you to join us as we kick off our Fall 2021 Concert Series with our Grand Piano Celebration this Sunday, September 19 at 3 pm in Mason's Center for the Arts. How grateful we are to present live music once again in a joyous celebration of our All-Steinway School and the Reva and Sid Dewberry Family School of Music!
The first half of the concert showcases outstanding student artists with works by Johann Sebastian Bach, Frederic Chopin, Johannes Brahms, Franz Liszt, Fernando Obradors, Florence Price, and Alexander Scriabin. The fabulous Mason student artists who are performing this Sunday hail from South Korea, India, China, and Vietnam, as well as Texas, New York, Maryland, Washington, DC, and our great commonwealth of Virginia!
The second half of the concert features phenomenal faculty performances in a dazzling all-Gershwin tribute, including Rhapsody in Blue (arranged for trumpet and piano), excerpts from Porgy and Bess (arranged for duo-piano), and "I Got Rhythm" (arranged for 8-hands piano).
We look forward to seeing you this Sunday at 3 pm at Mason's Center for the Arts as we celebrate the return of live music-making once again with a not-to-be-missed Grand Piano Celebration concert!
Warmest regards,
|
