We are thrilled to welcome prospective new jazz students to campus on Saturday October 9 for an innovative and memorable experience "Mason Jazz Student for a Day!"
Please take note of the many exciting initiatives and events in October, including a special concert Mason Arts at Old Town Hall showcasing Mason Strings on October 13. We are also pleased to announce a live-stream viewing option is available for our student degree recitals (see calendar for complete listing).

Welcome Mason Artist-in-Residence Sphinx Virtuosi, the chamber orchestra dedicated to increasing racial and ethnic diversity in classical music. Prepare to stretch beyond the usual notions of the classical music canon with a dynamic program of music by women and composers of color. During their residency, ensemble members will spend time participating in engagement activities with the greater northern Virginia community and Mason students.

Adjunct music technology professor John Jansen will be presenting his research at New Music DC this weekend! His article, "Glenn Branca's Microtonal Harmonic Series Guitar", focuses on Branca's large-scale work for the harmonic series. Find out more about the conference here.

The Asian American Music Society (Dr. Mira Yang, President) has received the Community Partnership Award from the Kennedy Center! This awards grants a stipend that will be used to produce artist workshops, masterclasses, panel discussions, performances and presentations with social impact, diversity, inclusion, equity, and multi-educational programs. Dr. Mira Yang is an adjunct voice professor at the Dewberry School of Music.
