Dear Brothers,

Personnel

Assignment(s) are effective with the publishing of the new personnel book.

Bro. Allen Pacquing has been assigned to the Holy Rosary Marianist Community with continued ministry at St. Mary’s University.

First Vows, United States

We join Magdaleno’s family and the Marianist Novitiate Community, as we celebrate with great joy Bro. Leno Ceballos profession of first vows on Saturday, May 23. Our Novice Master, Fr. Chris Wittmann presided at the Mass, and Fr. Kip Stander was delegated to receive the vows. Please congratulate and wish Bro. Leno well by sending a card, email or calling him.

First Vows, India

We join with our Brothers in India as we celebrate the first profession of vows of  Bros. Vicky Kumar and Andugala Naresh on May 20 at Nirmal Deep, Ranchi. The Novice Master, Fr. Chinnaiah Polishety presided at the Mass.  Bro. Sanjay Ekka, district assistant for education, was delegated to receive the vows.  Several Brothers, Marianists Sisters, and Lay Marianist Family members were able to attend the Mass.  Click here for pictures.

This week I am featuring the members of the Office of Sponsorship. Please click here to see the names and photos of these lay staff members.

Relaxing of Quarantine

Each of the states where we are located are taking different approaches and timelines to relax the rules. Please remember the recent Notes reminders about not letting down on your guard. Many of us are in the vulnerable categories. Please click here to find an article sent by Bro. Fred Stovall and written by Dr. Donald Bosch on “Risk Habituation.” It is very interesting.

Annual Retreat, Perpetually Professed in India

Thirty of our perpetually professed Brothers in India will be making their annual retreat with online conferences from May 24-31. Due to the more moderate temperatures in December/January the annual retreats for the Brothers in the north were held at that time. Please pray for those on retreat these days.

Dear Brothers,

August Ordination

At our most recent meeting, the Provincial Council approved Bro. Michael Chiuri and Bro. Brandon Paluch’s request for ordination to the Marianist priesthood.

The Mass of Ordination will be celebrated on Saturday, August 22 at Our Lady of the Pillar Catholic Church in St. Louis.  The Most Reverend Kevin Vann, Bishop of Orange, California, will be the ordaining prelate. A reception will follow at the parish hall.

Let us join in prayer with Bro. Michael and Bro. Brandon who are preparing for their final exams for their program in Rome.

Dear Brothers,

Characteristics of Marianist Education (CME)

Nearly twenty-five years ago, the General Chapter of 1996 gave birth to our CME’s. We are now in the final phase of revisions in updating the commentary for each characteristic. Bro. Max Magnan, our assistant general for education, recently sent a letter supporting the direction of allowing each zone or unit to author their own text. This narrative would reflect the cultural reality of each area while remaining faithful to the spirit of the original commentary. Special gratitude to Bro. Tom Giardino for his commitment and leadership in this ongoing process. The updated CME’s will be distributed to our brothers and ministries in the near future. May our CME’s continue to be a vital lens through which we view our call as Marianist educators.

Please click here to read Bro. Max’s letter.

Dear Brothers,

Laudato Si' 5

Thank you to the 100+ people from across the world who attended our Virtual Prayer Experiences this past Sunday in celebration of the 5th Anniversary of Pope Francis' encyclical focused on integral ecology and care for our common home. Thanks also to our event coordinator, Sr. Leanne Jablonski, and our event co-sponsors, MEEC, MSJC and the Hanley Sustainability Institute at UD.

We'll be featuring different videos here over the next several weeks that were created by various ministries and members of the Marianist Family for our May 24 event. Today's video comes from Maureen Hoock, Lay Marianist and board president for the Marianist Retreat & Conference Center in Eureka, Missouri. Please feel free to use this song with images for your own individual or community prayer experience. Click here to view the video.
