Dear Brothers,
Formation Weekend
Last weekend, we had a wonderful and prayerful time at MR&CC as those in initial formation came together from three provinces. I thought you might enjoy seeing a photo as you continue to pray for these young men and women seeking to answer God’s call. We will gather again with them in March 2022.

Reminders Regarding Letters of Suitability and Faculties
- A Marianist priest with faculties from the diocese where you live, who wishes to exercise ministry (e.g., a single event: wedding, baptism, funeral) outside of the archdiocese or diocese in which you live, will need to request a letter of suitability through the Provincial Office for Religious Life. Please send me those requests and cc my administrative assistant, Terry Eversole. The request should be made as soon as you have received the invitation and should include the details of the ministerial activity you’ll perform so that we will have plenty of time to get the copy of the letter to you and to the particular bishop (except, of course, in an emergency situation such as funerals where you have little time). This pertains as well to some Brothers who are involved in public events and representing the Church. The diocese may require a letter of suitability.
- Some diocese issue short-term faculties, which would apply to priests coming for extended holidays, study programs, assisting for a longer period in a parish, etc. Usually, on the particular diocesan website, there is an application for short-term faculties, which is to be completed by the priest applicant. You will still need a Letter of Suitability to affirm that you are in good standing in your diocese and among the Marianists, as well as that you have full faculties in the location of your current assignment. If you permanently move from one diocese to another, you are asked to apply for faculties. This should happen through the Office for Religious Life. Please contact me if this needs to happen.
- The bottom line is to prepare in advance versus the last minute or the day before you need the paperwork! I am here to assist you as much as I can; however, we have to follow the regulations issued by the diocese.

Dear Brothers,
Racial Justice Workshop Postponed
The racial justice workshop that had been planned for February 2022 in San Antonio is postponed due to the unavailability of our scheduled facilitator, Fr. Bryan Massingale. A new date and venue will be chosen for next year, allowing us to gather in dialogue around this most important issue.
