Fr. Ted wears his Founder's Award.

Congratulations to
Fr. Ted Ley, who received the Founder's Award at the Founder's Day celebration at Chaminade West Hills last week.
Ted was recognized for his many years of service to the school and for his tireless efforts on behalf of poor youth in Los Angeles, especially through the Schola Cantorum of the Pacific.
I was honored to be the celebrant for the Eucharist with more than 2,000 middle and high school students. The celebration was a tribute to the excellence of this Marianist school.
Reverse mission
Today and tomorrow, four brothers from newer units of the Society of Mary will visit St. John Vianney High and Chaminade College Prep in St. Louis.
Bro. Kumaraswamy and
Fr. Josephraj, currently serving at Chaminade College Prep in California, and African
Bros. Thomas Njari and
Julius Maingi, both students at the University of Dayton, will be visiting these Marianist schools.
At Vianney, they will be talking about their work with the poor in their respective units of India and Eastern Africa; at Chaminade College Prep, Fr. Josephraj will celebrate the Mass that kicks off the school's "Global Awareness" week. Following Mass, the four Marianists will make a presentation to the students.

These sorts of cross-cultural engagements are mutually beneficial. They provide the students with a broader view of the world and of the Society of Mary, while the four brothers gain a close-up view into the life of two excellent Marianist schools.
Formation, formation, formation
Last weekend,
Bro. Dennis Schmitz and I met with
Fr. Chinnaiah Polishety (novice director in India) and
Bro. Oscar Kerketta (director of aspirants in India) to discuss their experience at the Institute for Religious Formation at the Catholic Theological Union in Chicago.
Chinnaiah and Oscar have been in the formation course for formators since August. Providing good formators for the District of India has been a concern, and these brothers have benefited greatly from their experience.
Dennis and I wanted to engage them in the application of their formation program to the reality of the district's
Guide for Formation. Many thanks to Dennis for his tireless support and availability for this important mission of the province.
Congratulations, Frs. Sebestian and Raj
Last Sunday, we welcomed two new ordained brothers into the Society of Mary.
Bishop Telesphore Bilung
of the Archdiocese of Ranchi
presided at the ordination of
Sebestian Bara
and Rajmohan at the Marianist Novitiate in Ranchi.
Congratulations and blessings to Sebestian and Raj!

Kudos all around
I hope you've read the special issue of
Via Latina 22, which reported on the closing of the bicentennial in Singhpur, India, on Jan. 21-22.
In addition to this wonderful report,
Fr. Manuel Cortés wrote a personal letter to
Fr. Sudhir Kujur, district superior, expressing his appreciation and admiration for a stunningly beautiful and fitting celebration. Congratulations to our brothers in the District of India for a job very well done.
Feast of the Presentation
We have two special observances tomorrow: It is a day to celebrate and pray for Lay Marianists around the world, and a day to pray for the consecrated life in the Church.
May the Mother of Jesus always hold us in her embrace.
