Dear Brothers,
Jubilee Season
Throughout the Province we have begun our Jubilee celebrations. The first Jubilee for this year was celebrated in St. Louis on April 27 and the final jubilee celebration for this year will be held in Dayton on August 10. Please join the Provincial Council in giving thanks for the faithfulness of our Jubilarians. Let us all pray for one another that God will give us the grace to live faithfully our vows as Professed Marianist Religious.
District of India, Special District Chapter
As you may be aware, for over two years the District of India, with the assistance of the Province, has been working on creating, organizing and adjusting the district directory. This is an important document for the strengthening of the District of India. Thank you to
Bro. Dennis Schmitz who has helped with the process and
Fr. Marty Solma who has been the point person for this project.
I have asked the District Superior,
Fr. Sudhir Kujur, to call the District communities and religious to a time of prayer in preparation for the Chapter. I now invite the communities of the Province and individuals to join our Brothers in prayerful support and preparation. We will be praying to
Our Lady of Vailankanni.
- Monday, May 20: Novena begins
- Sunday, May 26: Prayer, All communities in India & US
- Tuesday, May 28: India, District Chapter begins
- Saturday, June 1: Chapter ends
I’m calling the Province to prayer during these days. Let’s also unite ourselves with our Brothers in India in celebration. On June 1, please lift a glass in honor of the hard work of the Brothers on the District Chapter.
I invite communities and individuals to sign-up for the day(s) that your community will pray for the District Chapter. It is okay (even preferable) that there be more than one community per day. Please
sign up here.
This Coming Week
- May 14–17: UD Board meeting
- May 20–21: Provincial Council meeting, Dayton

Dear Brothers,
Marianist Mission Pilgrimage
All 24 of the pilgrims have returned safely to their homes after traveling to Amsterdam; cruising down the Rhine through Germany and France; and then going to Basel and Zurich. We visited many very beautiful churches, prayed daily, enjoyed the beauty of the land, experienced different cultures, tasted some wonderful food, smelled the fragrance of some beautiful flowers and enjoyed new friendships! It was Easter joy!

Marianist Mission Preaching This Summer—Need One More Volunteer!
This summer, I have Marianists preaching at 11 parishes in four major cities. I am looking for one more volunteer among our Marianist priests who might be available over the June 22-23 weekend for a parish in Philadelphia. Obviously you would have to preside at the masses and tie the readings in with our Missionary efforts in our Marianist world. If you would like to volunteer, please
contact me as soon as possible.

Happy Mother’s Day
This Sunday, we remember in prayer and thanksgiving all of our mothers, grandmothers and godmothers both living and deceased. Here is a prayer for your reflection:
God of Love, we pray in thanksgiving for the tremendous blessing of mothers. We celebrate their dedication and the love that they have for their family. May mothers who have lost a child, those who are estranged from their children and those children who never knew their mother know the love of our Blessed Mother even more intimately. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Dear Brothers,
What’s Happening
- May 15: Visit with new MUSP director, Elvis Grbac, at VASJ in Cleveland
- May 17: Visit with NACMS
A Legacy of Hope and Joy
Today I am visiting Daniel J. Gross Catholic High School where a rich heritage of Marianist life exists.
A distinguished feature to Gross Catholic and to many Marianist schools in the United States is the House system. The primary objective of the house system is to enable all students to embrace their potential for leadership and to become part of a multi-grade community which is responsible for the academic, social and spiritual growth of all its members. The House system allows students and faculty time to play and pray together, as well as time for positive peer-to-peer growth. The house system is a unique way of building the community and family spirit that is the backbone of who we are as a Marianist school.
There are four “Houses.” The Houses at Gross Catholic are named after four Marianists who served at the school in the past. Barrett House is named for
Bro. Joe Barrett. McMenamy House is named after
Fr. Al McMenamy. Middleton House takes its name from
Bro. Rich Middleton.
Bro. Leo Willett, the founding principal of Gross Catholic, is the namesake for Willett House.
Dr. Dorothy A. Ostrowski, president, shared that these brothers remain in our hearts and prayers, as do all of the Marianists who have paved the way for Gross Catholic.
