From Fr. Oscar Vasquez
Dear Brothers,

Emergency/Crisis Contact Information

Community directors, please download and print the REVISED crisis/emergency contact information sheet for the Province. This document provides the procedures and phone numbers you should use in the case of an emergency/crisis situation in your community/ministry. Please remember to place this in an area where community members can access when necessary. Finally, please do not post this information in a public place that is accessed by non-SMers regularly.

Personnel

Bro. Tom Oldenski is assigned to the Stonemill Kiefaber Marianist Community with ministry at the University of Dayton, School of Education.

Indian District, UD Program

Bro. Tom Oldenski has returned to the Province after many faithful years of service to the Province and the Indian District as the executive director of the UD program in India. He has given his heart to this program. Unfortunately, India recently changed its VISA requirements and he was not able to obtain a new long-term VISA. Thank you to Bro. Tom for his service. The Indian District and the Province have begun a search for a new executive director. We will share our recommendation with UD.

Provincial Council Responsibilities

For each member of the Provincial Council Team, the responsibilities are distributed based on the Office System and the gifts and talents of each member. Please click here to read the responsibilities. Please contact the individual member or myself if you have any questions. This list will continue to be a work in progress.

“Notes” Summer Schedule

We have decided to initiate a summer Schedule for Notes from the Provincial Council. From now until August 15, we will be publishing every other week. If there is any critical communication between publications, we will send it out as a special message.

This Coming Week

From Fr. Tim Kenney

Dear Brothers,

What Jesus Never Said

“Feed the hungry only if they have papers.”
“Clothe the naked only if they’re from your country.”
“Welcome the stranger only if there’s zero risk.”
“Help the poor only if it’s convenient.”
“Love your neighbor only if they look like you.”

James Martin, SJ

From Bro. Jesse O'Neill
Dear Brothers,

Words of Gratitude

As Bro. Tom Giardino completes his year as the assistant for special projects in the Office of Education, I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to him for all of his work this past year. His tireless commitment to the process of transitioning St. Laurence College into Le Chéile, his completion of revisions to our institutional by-laws and his work on the updating of the Characteristics of Marianist Education, have all been significant contributions to the life of the Province and its future. Thank you, Bro. Tom, for your generosity and for being a valuable resource to the Office of Education during this year of transition.
Blessings to Bro. Tom on his new journey as the executive director of the Association of Marianist Universities. AMU’s mission is to support, promote and advance Marianist higher education. We do this by facilitating an environment to sustain cooperation and the exchange of experience and information among our three universities. Bro. Tom’s office will be on the campus of the University of Dayon at Alumni Hall, Room 229.

Special gratitude to Dr. Steve Neiheisel, for his service these past years as director of AMU and for his ongoing leadership in Catholic education.
