Fold and Field Update
Work on the Fold and the Field continues, as construction of the Fold has begun and the Field is moving through the design and permit process with the Town.
At the start of the project, we set a goal of $225,000. The actual costs are moving targets, as costs fluctuate, designs adapt to those fluctuating costs and Town requirements, and volunteers step up to do some of the work.
We won’t know until April, really, what the actual costs will be for the whole project, but we have reason to believe that they will come in close or even under that $225,000 goal.
Thanks to the generous response of the people and friends of the Advocate, to date, we have raised $155,000 in gifts and pledges.
At the January meeting the Vestry will determine what portion of existing capital funds will be used towards the project. (Note that all along the vestry assumed that funds from our “savings” would be used to this end). We have applied for a $10,000 grant from the Diocese, and we hope to hear by the first of April if we receive that grant. If we get the grant and pledges are all paid, we will have $215,000 towards the project.
The Vestry will provide an update on income and expense for the project in April, when we hope the Fold will be completed and the Field well underway.
Volunteers for the Fold can sign up with Nate Bradford, and we still hope to have a Saturday or two for cutting small hardwoods from the Field site for future use in the bread oven.
