I was excited to participate in the New Director Engagement Series Kick-off on September 20. Led by Ema, other staff and our ICADV Convener Pam Kostecki, the day was chock full of information about ICADV requirements and benefits of membership. This in person day will be followed by 10 more virtual events to assist with participation in all ICADV has to offer. If you are a newer director, interim or even a seasoned director you may want to join in one or all future offerings. The list is here. Contact Ema Phelps if you want more information to attend.

ICADV staff updated the ICADV Program Council Operations Manual during our quarterly gathering in September. Click here to access the most current version to share with your staff.

I am excited (again) about the Program Council’s affirmative vote to create a new committee focused on support and education for the agencies that provide services to those who cause harm. The committee is being referred to as the PAIP committee but will possibly get a new name once they get organized. The formal launch with charter and co-chairs will take place at the annual meeting on November 16. If you are interested, Michelle McAnarney will be the staff liaison but until she returns from maternity leave, you can get in touch with me or Sara Mentel. The workgroup is meeting next week.

I wanted to resend the 2022 report regarding the Domestic Violence Co-location project, titled Data Report 2022 so you can review the work that is being done at the current four sites.

If you haven’t already, please take a moment to Honor Your Champion.

The job announcement and description are being finalized for the CEO position. It will be distributed far and wide so be on the lookout. If you have any questions, please contact me at [email protected] or Pam Kostecki at [email protected].

Strengthening your leadership skills regardless of your position is key to creating a productive and welcoming work environment. Here is a blog from nonprofit guru Joan Garry about one important skill

Final award letters are going out on October 5 to 27 member agencies that applied for the Allstate grants. These grants are for direct assistance to survivors for a variety of needs to overcome barriers that may be hampering their healing. I will provide a more detailed list of uses in my quarterly report in November.

Here is an article on the National Domestic Violence Hotline and a picture of how collaboration can expand services.

I know many of you follow Joan Garry. Here is her idea for engaging the Board to finish the year end with enthusiasm.

Deepest sympathies are extended to Amy Milligan with Metropolitan Family Services on the loss of her life partner. You can reach out to Amy at [email protected].

Congratulations to two ICADV member agencies, KAN WIN and Metropolitan Family Services for each being awarded one of the 35 FVPSA awards nationally for culturally specific services for domestic violence and sexual assault victims.
