Uniting Voices at the Big SingBigSing

We invite one and all to come together with songs of healing, comfort, empowerment and renewal. In the midst of these intense and challenging times, we will sing together as a way of remembering our powerful connections with one another and expressing these common bonds in song. Musical selections at Big Sings range from familiar rounds, spirituals, and Beatles songs to popular 20th century standards from the Great American Songbook. Singers of all experiences levels welcome, and no singing experience is required--we invite you to make your out of the shower debut with us at the Big Sing!

Eighty Voices, Eight Instruments, One Evening of Connection

"To see, feel, and think together
As if you were next to me
No matter how far apart we are...
To cry, laugh, and sing together
Under this sky
No matter how far apart we are...
Feel the connection of the sky,
And the connection of our hearts."
Kentaro Sato
What connects us? Song? Country? Disaster? Love? Conspirare's Symphonic Choir presents a concert examining our impulse   for connection, including regional premieres of D avid  L ang's   the national anthems  and  Mass Transmission by Mason Bates. The choir will be joined by instrumental collaborators including Artisan Quartet, Austin Haller (organ), Faith DeBow (piano and electronica), Thomas Burritt (percussion) and Utah Hamrick (double bass).
Artistic Director Craig Hella Johnson reflects on the program: "Never before in my life have I felt so urgently the absolute necessity o f coming together to sing and listen as a way to navigate our lives together and to express all we are holding in this intense and challenging time. Our fall program presents powerful music, which I am very excited to share with Austin audiences. The major works on the program are composed by two of the most compelling composers on the musical scene today. It promises to be a stirring and deeply engaging evening of music and an inspirational way to come together."

Conspirare Youth Choirs Invited to the Southwestern American Choral Directors Association

On the heels of a successful Tuscany tour, CYC's Allegro singers have been invited to headline at the Southwestern American Choral Directors Association Convention! Our singers will travel to Oklahoma City this March to  perform a  new program of music from such films as Le Choristes, The Shawshank Redemption, and Gladiator. They will also debut a  brand  new piece called "The Lottery"  from Texas composer Mark Hierholzer, who has written this piece  especially for our Allegro singers. In keeping with the cinema music theme, the piece is based on the song "The Parting Glass" from the film Waking Ned Devine.

Donor Spotlight: Jeanie Wyatt

Jeanie Wyatt, CFA, is a patron saint of numerous not-for-profit organizations throughout South and Central Texas, deeply committed from a young age to the arts in Texas, and is the founder of the successful financial firm South Texas Money Management.
Founded in December 2000, South Texas Money Management (STMM) has garnered a host of honors under Jeanie's leadership. Barron's magazine named Wyatt to the Top Financial Advisors by State list (2017 and 2016), the Top 100 Women Financial Advisors list ( 2017, 2016 and 2015), and the Top 100 Independent Advisors list (201 2, 2011, and 201 0). She was also named to's Top 10 Women-Owned RIAs list (201 6, 201 5, 201 4 and 201 3). Financial Times Magazine named her as one of the Top 100 Women Financial Advisors (2014), and the firm was listed in the Top 300 RIAs ( 2017, 201 6, 201 5 and 201 4). CNBC named STMM to their list of Top 100 Fee-Only Wealth Managers (2014 and 2015), and Forbes named the firm one of the Top 100 Wealth Managers (201 6 and 201 5). Based in San Antonio, South Texas Money Management has additional offices in Austin, Corpus Christi, Houston, and Dallas.
STMM's long-term support of Conspirare has served as a catalyst for Craig Hella Johnson's engagement in the innovative artistic expression that propelled Conspirare from a local professional choir to one with a regional, national, and international presence. Conspirare's 2017 performance at the Texas Medal of Arts Awards Ceremony represents the culmination of our joint efforts with STMM to expand Conspirare's Texas presence. This season, Conspirare reached 8,000 listeners through season performances and outreach events in Austin, San Antonio, Houston, Dallas, Victoria, and College Station. STMM's support made it possible for Conspirare to build capacity through return appearances in Houston and San Antonio in season 17-18.
Jeanie's business acumen, knowledge of the financial world, and success in her field of financial planning have enabled her to transform numerous not-for-profit organizations.  Conspirare is not the only organization to benefit from her generosity, but numerous organizations have found sustaining support from South Texas Money Management--Girl Scouts of Central Texas, Association of Fundraising Professionals, and the Food and Wine Foundation of Texas, to name a few. In fact,  South Texas Money Management has given over $5million back to the communities in which it operates since its inception in 2000.  STMM has supported Conspirare since 2007 and became its Season Sustaining Underwriter in Season 2010-2011. In addition, STMM will be Conspirare's Season Sustaining Underwriter for the next three seasons. So, to Jeanie and everyone at South Texas Money Management, thank you. We are profoundly grateful.
