Harmony Square grand opening this Friday

The Village will host the official grand opening celebration for Harmony Square plaza from 7 to 10 p.m. Friday, July 18 at 6700 North Street.

Activities will include a ribbon-cutting ceremony, food and drink vendors, speeches by elected officials, special deals on Village merchandise for residents, and a concert by rock band The BoDeans.

The Harmony Square grand opening will be immediately followed with the Village’s annual Block Party from 2 to 10 p.m. Saturday, July 19 and noon to 7 p.m. Sunday, July 20 at the new plaza. Visitors will be able to enjoy live music on two stages, food and drinks for sale, rides and games, and much more.

Most of the Village's special events will transition to Harmony Square after this weekend, including Farmers Market, Music in the Plaza, Boo Bash, Holiday Happenings and others. It will also be home to brand-new events such as yoga, an instrument zoo, jumbo games, children's performances, movie nights, and seasonal light shows. Throughout the winter months there will be an ice-skating rink with curling lanes.

The 1.6-acre plaza also features a water feature, a gateway pergola, a 30x50 concert stage with a green room, and a VIP building called Studio 67 that can be rented out for parties and private events. You can learn more at TinleyPark.org/HarmonySquare.
