The Village of Tinley Park will be hosting its 21st annual Benches on the Avenue public art project this year and is looking for local businesses and organizations that would like to become sponsors. In addition to promoting an appreciation for the arts, the "Benches" program has been very successful in generating interest from residents and visitors alike.

About two dozen handcrafted wooden benches will again line Oak Park Avenue in Downtown Tinley from mid-May to October. Benches are six feet long, include attached flower boxes, and feature one-of-a-kind artwork based on this year's theme, “Saturday Morning Cartoons.” Sponsors will be able to select their desired bench in April in the order the Village received their applications.

The Village is seeking sponsors for its inaugural Downtown Tinley Chocolate Fest on Feb. 3. The event will offer visitors a chocolatey adventure with free trolley rides, photo opportunities and shopping on and around Oak Park Avenue. The Village of Tinley Park will join the Village of Orland Park, Orland Township and Cook County Commissioner Sean Morrison in presenting the inaugural Southwest Job Fair from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 11 at the Orland Park Civic Center, 14750 S. Ravinia Ave.

The fair will help bridge the gap between talented job seekers and top-notch companies in southwest Chicago. The event will include workshops by professional speakers, mock interviews, meet-and-greets with companies, professional headshots and more.

"We are thrilled to co-host the Southwest Job Fair, bringing together job seekers and employers in our vibrant communities," Tinley Park Mayor Michael Glotz said. "This event will serve as a platform for individuals to explore career opportunities, network with industry professionals, and gain valuable insights into the job market."

The Illinois Back to Business New Business Grant Program (B2B NewBiz) will provide financial relief to businesses that started during the pandemic in industries most impacted by it.
