Feature your business during Earth Week

The Tinley Park Environmental Enhancement Commission (EEC) will host Tinley Park Earth Week 2023 from April 16 to 22 to help families and businesses engage in eco-friendly activities in a fun, easy and approachable way.

The EEC provides an eco-themed scavenger hunt for families and teens that encourages education, engagement and exploration. The EEC is looking for Tinley Park businesses that would like to participate in this as a way to showcase their eco-friendly initiatives and to connect with residents and customers. Benefits to your business include:

  • Easy, low buy-in: All businesses have to do is stamp scavenger hunt players’ cards.
  • Connect with wider range of customers: Scavenger hunt participants need to enter your business to participate.
  • Communicate your business’ eco-friendly initiatives: Scavenger hunt participants get an extra stamp for asking you about your eco-friendly initiatives.
  • Ongoing promotion for your business: Feature your business logo on the Tinley Park Earth Week Tote Bag, which is the prize for winning scavenger hunt participants.

Those who are interested can email the EEC at [email protected] by March 17. See this flyer for more information, or visit the EEC page on the Village website.

Dementia workshop coming April 6

Representatives from Porter Place Memory Care Facility and the Illinois Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association will present an educational workshop targeted at training local businesses about Alzheimer’s disease and dementia from 3 to 4 p.m. Thursday, April 6 in the Council Chambers at Tinley Park Village Hall, 16250 S. Oak Park Ave.

The purpose of this training is for local businesses to be able to identify patrons that may have dementia or Alzheimer’s disease. Come out for helpful resources about the diseases and for ideas that businesses can implement to make their business more accessible to those with Alzheimer’s and dementia.

All businesses that attend the workshop will become an official “Dementia Friendly Tinley Park Business” and receive a free window decal to show off your business’s Dementia-Friendly status. Businesses also will have free promotion on the Tinley Park Dementia Friendly’s Facebook Page.

The purpose of the Facebook page is to:

  • Educate the community on dementia and Alzheimer’s diseases
  • Provide resources to people with dementia and their caregivers to improve their quality of life
  • Notify community members of dementia-friendly events hosted by the Village

Visit the Village website for more information on the Dementia Friendly initiative.
