Dear friends:
As we prepare our costumes for Halloween weekend, we're excited to share updates from this past month. Recently, we sat down with Janice Deskus, former CHRO at Staples, to discuss her leadership journey. She discussed how she revitalized the company's foundational values through grassroots engagement, leadership alignment, and recognition programs.
This month, we asked our LinkedIn followers HR-related questions about the industry, talents and skills they are seeking, and more. We're excited to share their answers below.
We sponsored and attended The Greater Boston Food Bank’s Women Fighting Hunger Breakfast on October 23rd. We continue to be inspired by GBFB's amazing work to end hunger in our community, and we're proud to have played a small part in supporting their mission.
On the 24th, we were inspired at The Women’s Edge's celebration of the Top 100 Women led businesses in Massachusetts – an amazing room full of leaders!
We hope you enjoy this month's newsletter!
Search on,
Alice

A few weeks ago, we asked our LinkedIn followers the following question:
If you could go back to the start of your career, what’s one thing you would tell yourself to prepare for today’s workforce?
We’re grateful for all of the thoughtful responses we received, and we’re excited to share some of them below!
| | |
“Place a major emphasis on HR integrity”
“Find organizations and colleagues who share your values so work fills your cup rather than drain it.”
“Listen. Then listen more.”
“Stop trying to predict the future, just build trust by being humble because this is how people will evolve with me for common goals.”
“Dare and believe in what you do!”
“Learn how to be curious - not everything will warrant your curiosity and some things will need more than others: Reframe ‘I don’t know!?’ to ‘So, how does this work?’ and ‘Hey, can you teach me how?’"

The first thing you think of when you hear the word 'prompt' is probably related to showing up on time or occurring right on schedule.
That's changing. Moving forward, it will be better known as the specific input you need to elicit a desired response from an AI model.
Whether it is for generating text, code, or images, the quality of the AI output is directly tied to the quality of the input - or the 'prompt'.
A new world of "prompt engineering" has arrived, and based on our conversations, experience, and observations, its value in a candidate will only continue to grow.
As long as they are prompt to the job interview, as well.
