Dear Malden Catholic families,

At Malden Catholic, we are dedicated to establishing a culture of health and remaining transparent regarding the well-being of our entire MC family. As part of our protocol, we are committed to notifying our community when we become aware of a positive COVID-19 case. This communication serves to provide you with an update.

A small number of individuals participated in an out-of-state event for an external function. We have learned that two members of the Malden Catholic community have been confirmed as positive. The individuals were not in school this week, but in exercising extra caution for our community, we decided to move to Phase Red for one week, from 10.17 – 10.23. This will give us time to continue to pursue contact tracing, receive test results and complete an extensive facility deep cleaning.

In next week’s Phase Red, all Malden Catholic classes will move to full distance learning, sports events will be postponed, and the MC facility will be closed until 10.23. If we determine that the MC community is safe, we will resume events on Saturday, 10.24 and move back to the school’s Yellow Phase on Monday, 10.26.

The Malden Catholic Nurse has followed the extensive safety protocols for contact tracing and any individual who has been in close contact has been notified. If you have not received notification, your student has not been in close contact. If you have any questions, please contact Nurse Paquette at 617.645.5331 or [email protected].

Due to privacy laws, we cannot reveal the individual’s identity and we ask that everyone in our school respect the privacy of all those within the Malden Catholic community.

The schedule for next week is outlined below. Please remember that in MC’s full distance learning phase, students MUST sign in to class on time, be in uniform, turn on their cameras and show their faces for the entire class.

We have done our best to mitigate the risk within our campus, but for all schools across the country, due to external events, there may be isolated cases. As you know, we have developed extensive safety protocols and plans to keep our campus safe. These guidelines and plans are designed to mitigate the risk to our students, faculty and staff.

We sincerely apologize to the students who are impacted by this unfortunate change in Phases, especially since the vast majority have gone above and beyond to follow the protocols to safeguard their participation in academics and sports. We encourage all families to diligently follow the guidelines set by the Department of Public Health. In addition, we strongly recommend that all students avoid travel, do not gather in groups and follow all social distancing protocols. We hope to be back at Malden Catholic in the Yellow Phase very soon.

Thank you for your support,
