It is with profound sadness that I inform you today of the untimely death of Georgia FOP President Jeff Wiggs. I was notified today around lunch by Secretary Alan Blaisdell of Dekalb FOP Lodge. It appears to be some type of unforeseen medical event that led to his untimely passing early this morning at his residence. For those of you who knew Jeff personally we ask that you celebrate his life and his commitment to this organization for which he dedicated so much of his professional life too. Jeff was the embodiment of a selfless leader that served as the Dekalb FOP President for over 10 years, as well as the current Georgia State Lodge President. He will be remembered as tireless advocate for Law Enforcement Officers in Dekalb County and the State of Georgia. I know you will join me in extending our heartfelt sympathy to Jeff's immediate family during this difficult time. Our State Chaplain Donald Mcduffie is available for peer support counseling if any member would like to reach out to him on his cell phone or email. The memorial service and funeral arrangements are being completed as we speak. As soon as the final arrangements are completed, we will send it out to the membership ASAP. Our FOP family is strong and in times like this our organization always goes above and beyond to honor our brothers and sisters. I personally ask for each of your prayers as well as we move forward with this week to honor our State President, brother, and friend. Thank you all!
